In a bold move that has captured the attention of the sports media industry, Talaya Gaines is set to rejoin ESPN as the vice president of talent relations and development. This exciting announcement, made on December 22, 2025, marks a significant turning point in her impressive career.
Gaines, who has established herself as a prominent figure in television sports, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Prior to this appointment, she served as the vice president of content strategy and original programming at MSG Networks. However, her roots at ESPN run deep; she spent 14 years with the network, where she was a key player as a managing producer for ESPN+ and original content initiatives.
Starting January 5, Gaines will take on a pivotal role focused on talent management, development, and recruitment. Her work will be under the guidance of Freddy Rolón, who leads ESPN's global sports and talent office.
"The expansion of our Talent Office represents a major investment in the community of talent at ESPN," Rolón stated. "We boast one of the most extensive rosters in sports media, and Talaya's addition to our team will significantly enhance our ability to support this remarkable group, ensuring they are positioned for success."
In a related development, ESPN also announced that Rosetta Ellis-Pilie has been appointed as the vice president of talent negotiations and policy, a newly created position aimed at further strengthening their talent management strategies.
