Get ready to buckle up, comedy fans! Super Troopers 3 is gearing up to hit the big screen, and the release date is set for August 7, 2026! This news is sure to excite fans of the original, who have been eagerly awaiting another dose of the Vermont State Troopers' hilarious antics.
The film, brought to us by Searchlight, will be facing off against some stiff competition, including Universal's comedy One Night Only, directed by Will Gluck, and an untitled New Line movie.
Jay Chandrasekhar, the mastermind behind the original, is back in the director's chair. He'll also be reprising his role as Thorny, alongside the familiar faces of Kevin Heffernan (Farva), Steve Lemme (Mac), Paul Soter (Foster), and Erik Stolhanske (Rabbit). We can also expect to see Brian Cox as Captain John O’Hagan and Marisa Coughlan as Ursula Hanson.
But wait, there's more! Joining the cast are some exciting new additions, including Oscar winner Nat Faxon (from The Way Way Back) as Captain Todd Markowski, Chace Crawford (The Boys) as Baker Buchanan, and Andrew Dismukes (Saturday Night Live) as Coy Burns. Also, Hannah Simone, Iqbal Theba, Sakina Jaffrey, Jon Rudnitsky, and Lisa Gilroy are set to appear in the movie. However, plot details are still under wraps, so we'll have to wait to see what kind of trouble the troopers get into this time.
The original Super Troopers premiered in 2001 after being acquired at the Sundance Film Festival. It went on to win the Audience Award at the South by Southwest Film Festival. The sequel followed in 2018. Both films were directed by Chandrasekhar, written by, and starring the entire Broken Lizard group. Combined, the movies have raked in a global box office gross of $55 million, all on a combined production cost of under $15 million (before marketing and advertising). That's impressive!
And this is the part most people miss... It was also announced that Disney is re-releasing Avengers: Endgame, the second highest-grossing movie of all time, on September 25th next year, ahead of the filmmakers’ Avengers: Doomsday on December 18th.
