Thrash metal fans, get ready to bang your heads! Sacred Reich, the Arizona-based veterans, have officially welcomed Eduardo Baldo as their new drummer, as announced on December 3, 2025. Baldo, previously of the Los Angeles band Red Devil Vortex, already proved his mettle by drumming for Sacred Reich during their November European tour with Hatebreed.
In a statement released on social media, Sacred Reich expressed their excitement: "We would like to officially welcome our new drummer Eduardo Baldo to the band. Baldo played the recent shows in Europe with us and crushed it! He's a great dude and fit right in with us. We are excited to move forward with Baldo behind the kit bringing his own style, enthusiasm, and power. Welcome to Sacred Reich!"
Adding to the celebration, December 3rd was also Baldo's birthday! The band and fans alike wished him a very happy one. And the good news keeps coming: Sacred Reich is putting the finishing touches on their new album, 'Into The Abyss,' with plans for European shows in July and August of 2026.
But here's where it gets controversial... or at least, interesting. The announcement of Baldo's arrival follows the departure of longtime drummer Dave McClain. McClain, in a social media post, explained his decision to move on, stating he would continue pursuing his musical endeavors. Sacred Reich had previously announced McClain's departure on October 20th, wishing him the best and expressing excitement for this new chapter.
McClain's history with Sacred Reich is noteworthy. He was originally a member from 1991 to 1995, playing on the 'A Question' EP (1991) and the albums 'Independent' (1993) and 'Heal' (1996) before joining Machine Head. He rejoined Sacred Reich in December 2018 and contributed to their first album in 23 years, 'Awakening,' released in 2019 via Metal Blade Records. The album was produced by Arthur Rizk, known for his work with bands like Cavalera Conspiracy and Power Trip.
McClain's journey also included a stint with Machine Head, which he left in October 2018 after completing their 'Freaks & Zeroes Tour.'
'Awakening' was described as a collection of blistering thrash, killer solos, and socially conscious lyrics. The album was engineered by John Aquilino and mastered by Maor Appelbaum.
